It may not amount to a hill of beans, but Schiff's closing argument today is something that will make you proud of your country.

All of them? Free speech, separation of church and state, a transparent public education system built on science and reason, free proliferation of information, the constitution?

No question that Trump is a step backwards, but it's sensationalism to suggest things like a Hitler-esque dictatorship and revocation of basic freedoms. Sounds just like my nutty uncle who said Obama was going to enact Sharia law and throw Christians in concentration camps, except in the other direction. The vast majority of our society has progressed past these divisions, and I can't be bothered to listen to that crap.

IMO, the installation of a nakedly political hatchet man like Bill Barr as Attorney General 100% validates fears of the rise of fascism. We've already seen Barr start politically motivated investigations. It's a stone's throw from politically motivated indictments and the collection of political prisoners. What Barr's done has changed the dynamics and underscored the urgency of the need to get these men out of office and to repair the Executive Branch.

Hitler was mentioned, that's sensationalism. Hungary I can see, that's just a very, very conservative country with laws that reflect isolationist ideology. The other two, no way. Our Bill of Rights protects us from populism like that.

It’s like in baseball. If a pinch crosses the middle of the plate, waist high, is it a ball or a strike? The answer is, it’s whatever the umpire says it is.

In this case, the bill of rights are whatever the courts say they are. Is it separate but equal? Does Issue 4 mean felons have to pay restitution before they can vote? Are various voter suppression techniques legal? Can prayer be mandated in schools?

We’ve been spoiled by a court system that, since 1955 has expanded rights. We now are seeing a court that is taking a very different approach to the constitution. And the Bill of Rights is being eroded.

That’s the reason Trump has enjoyed support from the mainstream GOP. While they hate, and fear, him. He’s changing the courts in ways we never envisioned 10 years ago.

And that’s why the Bernie Bro’s who didn’t vote or voted third party because Hillary was a tool of the oligarchs and it makes no difference are so wrong.
