Default NCAA Game Night: 1-25-13

No. 8 Yale Bulldogs 3 @ No. 18 Cornell Big Red 2 (OT)

D/W Kirill Gotovets, COR: 0-0-0, +1, 0 PIM, 0 SOG
Season totals: 16 GP, 0-0-0, +5, 10 PIM

Yale’s Stu Wilson scored midway through overtime to give the Bulldogs a win vs the Big Red.

Clarkson Golden Knights 5 @ Harvard Crimson 1

F Brian Hart, HAR: 0-1-1, -1, 0 PIM, 3 SOG
Season totals: 16 GP, 4-5-9, -2, 8 PIM

This won’t sit well with the Crimson faithful. Harvard led 1-0 after one period, then allowed five unanswered goals to a team that came into the game with a 4-12-6 record – worse than the 5-11-1 Crimson. Harvard, who lost 4-1 to Union on Tuesday, is now 3-10 in the ECAC. On the plus side, Brian Hart had another point, his third in three games.

Bowling Green State Falcons 1 @ No. 6 Miami RedHawks 2

F Jimmy Mullin, MIA: 0-0-0, E, 0 PIM, 2 SOG
Season totals: 22 GP, 2-6-8, -4, 10 PIM

Miami got two goals from Cody Murphy (undrafted) to come from behind and defeat the Falcons, 2-1.

No. 16 St. Cloud State Huskies 3 @ No. 5 North Dakota 1

F Brendan O’Donnell, UND: Did not play
Season totals: 19 GP, 1-5-6, -3, 12 PIM

North Dakota was outshot 33-16 at home en route to a 3-1 loss. O’Donnell was out of the UND lineup for the third consecutive game.

Connecticut Huskies 1 @ No. 2 Quinnipiac Bobcats 2 (Tuesday)

F Matthew Peca, QU: 1-1-2, +1, 0 PIM, 4 SOG, *Third Star*
Season totals: 21 GP, 7-7-14, +8, 18 PIM

Peca banged home a rebound on Tuesday to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead, then had the primary assist on the game-winning goal, scored late in the third period. UConn’s Matt Grogan (undrafted) made 48 saves in the loss.

No. 14 Minnesota State Mavericks 2 @ No. 1 Minnesota Golden Gophers 1

G Adam Wilcox, MIN: Loss, 31 saves on 33 shots, *Third Star*
Season totals: 24 GP, 16-3-4, 1.73 GAA, .924 sv%, 3 SO

The Mavs scored with 44 seconds left in regulation to upset top-ranked Minnesota, 2-1. On the game winner, Wilcox (pictured, Minnesota Daily photo) made the initial save from in front, but the puck skittered to his left where an unmarked Brett Knowles potted home the winner. Wilcox and the Mavericks' Stephon Williams (undrafted) came into the weekend first and second, respectively, in the WCHA in goals against average. Williams made 37 saves in the win.

Michigan Wolverines 2 @ No. 9 Western Michigan Broncos 3

D Luke Witkowski, WMU: 0-1-1, +1, 0 PIM, 0 SOG
Season totals: 25 GP, 2-5-7, -2, 24 PIM

Luke Witkowski notched his seventh point of the season in a 3-2 home win over Michigan. After the game, Witkowski tweeted that he wasn’t at his personal best, but “the boys won.” Spoken like a true captain.
