Default Lightning sign F Pat Maroon to 1-year deal

Cooper gets his guy. One year at $900k.

I know a lot of people were hoping we'd sign him.

I thought he may be too slow for our liking, but I'm excited to add someone who can give us some jam up front.

We have 50 contracts now correct? Need Domingue to be dealt.

Default Ok

I hope this is a good sign. We need someone like him to help open some space on the ice from time to time. Good deal and the money is right.

Fortier and Nolan Foote will have their contracts slide when they go back to juniors so we really sit at 48 now, and 49 once Point is signed.

I thought Maroon would make sense after Erne got dealt. He might not be a good skater, but the guy was able to keep up with McDavid and he knows how to put the puck in around the net. I like the idea of a Maroon-Paquette-Verhaeghe 4th line.

Feels like everybody called this one. Hopefully gives us some heroics like he did the Blues.

Good call, forgot about the slide rule.

Size, team player, played for Cooper, experience, leader and friendly contract. What’s not to like? Obviously bought into his role. Now Lightning have a player who has won the Stanley Cup.

The signings of Shattenkirk and Maroon have improved my opinion of this coming season GREATLY. Like, night and day.

Still can’t expect Maroon to provide all of the toughness that our 25-man roster lacks. Just hope his presence encourages the others who we desperately need to play with sandpaper, like Paquette, Cernak, Cirelli, Joseph, Coburn, and that thug Gourde.

Hate to say it, but the one guy we’ve always needed more physicality from is Stammer. If he could just learn to set the tone of certain games with a few hard checks, the way Vinny used to know just when his team needed that kind of leadership, man, it would make such a huge difference. But at this point in his career, I’ve given up hope for that kind of leadership. Sigh.

What I need from Maroon is his leadership and attitude.
