I do not think that is even true. We all know, or at least reported, that Point was approached by the Habs before Aho and said no, as it was reported that this is where he wants to be.

I give next to 0 stock in this. First, what in the world could the Red Wings offer us for him? I mean go look at their top 6 forwards and top 4 dmen. Second, if we were going to trade him, on what planet would we trade him in the division? Third, if we were going to do that, why would we have traded JT Miller and created the cap space?

Exactly the Wings have nothing we'd want. If we lose Point we need an actual replacement not prospects.

It’s fucking Eklund. The next rumor he gets right will be his first. Clickbait.

If he really wants to be here, Point could let the trade go down and sign an offer sheet to go wherever he wanted.

Not Yzerman MO. He likes to build through draft and design his own team. Lightning players have always worked within the team concept in regards to salaries and feel Point no different. Suspect they are also looking to next year when Vasilevskiy, Cernak, Cirelli, Sergachev and Joseph are all UFAs. Would not be surprised he takes a bridge deal like Kucherov, then take the long term deal.

I am least worried about getting Point signed. He is going to sign and I have zero worries about it. Not even sure why anyone would

I'm not worried about him getting a contract signed, I'm worried about what it says on it.
