Dont you think it affects what the next guy expects? It happens all the time...

Seems to me like the Point camp wanted to wait to see what Marner got...seems like they were hoping for the overpay to drive up their price tag...looks to me like they got it.

Problem is we only have 8.5 to offer. Does all the goalie maneuvering save us anything?

After listening to those on XMNHL network I don't think I would take more than a 3 year deal. Talk there was that once the TV contract expires at the end of 2020-2021 season the NHL may hit a windfall with the popularity of the game increasing. Talk was that with a very good contract the cap could go up as much as 10 mil.

I would take a 3 year deal at $8,000,000 and some change and then cash in after the TV deal is done.

The money is there. We currently have a cap space of around $8,400,000 and once Condon, Domingue and one of your defensemen are sent to the AHL or traded you will clear another $2,000,000+ in cap space.

Joe Smith: Lightning aren’t swayed by market with bridge offer for Brayden Point.

Brayden Point's agent, Gerry Johansson, on contract talks with Tampa: "We're a ways apart right now.... We're not that close, frankly."
@Sportsnet650

Johansson : "I am surprised we are far apart this late in the process. We are open to anything, a bridge deal is also on the table no question. Nothing wrong with a bridge deal."

Evidently they are open to a bridge deal for a bunch of money.

Something to remember is if it goes into the season, the cap hit goes up. Remember last year nylander counted for like 12 mil cap hit.

If we go into the season, we are probably looking at a 1 year deal...I guess?

Get into the season I'm not sure we can afford any deal depending on how long the holdout is

Remember the source here. Johansson has nothing but getting a higher dollar amount as his motivation. You need to use a very big grain of salt.
