Watching him celebrate gave me chills. I imagine that would be incredibly satisfying in a different context, genuine emotion that strong is rare and it's a big reason I watch the game.

Glad to say I only saw a few minutes of it because I was in a sports bar last Saturday, only found out this morning that they won.

We now share a Cup Anniversary with them, ugh. I'm so bitter right now...

We didn't enter points for the contest yet, results will be up later.

Vegas looked like an expansion team chock full of mid level players. It is a testament to Gallant that he got this roster here.

The bubble burst.

I agree. I lived up in the DC area for 25+ years but never really cared for the Caps or Ovi but he has changed his game over the last couple of years and I think the Caps totally deserved the Cup this year. They outplayed everyone. I was so happy when he gave the Cup to Backstrom. He has been Ovi's main sidekick for 10+ years and never gets the credit he deserves. If it wasn't for him, Ovi wouldn't have a lot of his goals. Watching them skate around last night actually bought tears to my eyes with genuine happiness. And then listening to Oshie talk about his dad - really had them flowing. Congrats to them (once again Cup winner had to go thru the Bolts) - hopefully we'll be able to feel this joy sooner rather than later!

First congrats to the Capitals. Like many long time bolt fans going back to the old southeast division I do not like them but happy Ovie gets his cup.

I posted last week a prediction the knights will not have the season they had this year. The stars aligned for them and I feel although they drafted well, reality will set in next season.
MAF played out of his skull and I guess we will see if he keeps it up, or remains healthy next season.
They had a spectacular amount of overachievers and I just think The secret is out. Vegas will run into a buzzsaw next season.
Lastly, grudgingly I give them congratulations on a well played season and Cinderella run for the cup. Well done.

Called a "Gentleman's Sweep". You spot them one game to be nice, and then take it to them for the next four.

I got to watch the game with one of my best friends, who's been a Caps fan for 26 years. It was great to see the enjoyment on his face, even through my own bitterness. Now my social media feeds are nothing but excitement from people I know around here.

I don't hate the Caps. They played their asses off out on the ice and Ovechkin's excitement after winning is why we watch and play the game. They beat four really good teams, two of which many picked to win the Cup before the season started. Congrats to them.

I don't like Caps fans, though.

Uh oh, think I need a reminder on what I said.
I just Gave kudos to both teams but admittedly Vegas absolutely ticks me off and is one of my most disliked teams.... and this all started years ago when MAF came in as a youngster (as I don’t like the Pens either) and the Bolts lit him up one game in Tampa for something like a 5-0 lead and chased him.

Thinking back to the start of the playoffs with the yellow laces argument.

He was and is what Stamkos should have been...but may never be.

He did a little better this time than in his previous spring outings. But the Perennial Chokers label has been peeled off...and stuck squarely on No. 91's back.

Game 7 ECF vs. BOS in 2011...Game 6 SCF vs. CHI in 2015...then to get shut out the final 2.5 games of the 2018 ECF, taking a 3-2 series lead but losing THREE home games in one series...there's not much else to call that other than a grand team choking effort, under the leadership of its captains.

Gretzky. Yzerman. Crosby. Toews. Ovechkin. Etc. Names that adorn the Cup for a reason. In the clutch, when it matters, when it's springtime and the captain needs to step up and put the puck in the net and go on to win the Cup,...I...it...I just...

I got nothing...I can't finish.

There's a lot of that going around lately.

I've missed a few Cup hoistings but not many. Oldest one was when the Leafs won (their last) in 1967, and George Armstrong lifted her up and then passed to Tim Horton, one of my fav players on that team. Yup, moist eyes and all. We all know how difficult it is to win a Cup. You've got to be happy for the Caps and their effort. Playoff hockey is the purist expression of professional sport, IMO. I'm first and foremost a Lightning fan, but in the final analysis, I'm a HOCKEY fan. That final game was a beauty.
