Mexico looked really awful against Haiti and needed a BS penalty to win it in extra time. That was also their second consecutive extra time game, so they might be drained. There's definitely a chance.

Do you also agree that the ingredient that turns USA from shit into sugar is Pulisic? I don't usually buy the hype on guys, but the results kind of speak for themselves over the last few weeks.

Sure. Him and McKennie perhaps are the only real difference makers on the squad.

Messi got red carded for just standing there and taking abuse from Medel. Gee I wonder why...

Came up short in the final, but I was pretty proud of how the US played. If they had cashed any of the glorious chances they had in the first 50 minutes or so of the game, it would've played out very differently. I feel way better about the program than I did before the tournament.

And, in general, what an entertaining game. All the nasty, mean, bitter, viciousness you'd have expected from any classic US/Mexico match. The rivalry is coming back.

Berhalter's subs in the second half were ridiculous. Of course what's really killing is nobody to take over for Bradley who was an extreme liability after the half.

But yeah finish any of those chances and it's a different game. Frustrating. At least we had a good half.

More importantly, congrats to our women on another World Cup win! That was an exciting game and I really enjoyed their knockout stage performances, clutch stuff to earn that 4th star on their crest.

I'm not much of a soccer fan, but I am curious why the women program is so good internationally while the men program is not? Is it just that the top tier male athletes pick football, baseball, and basketball over soccer or is their other stuff that goes into it?

I thought Tata out-adjusted Berhalter at the half. Saw Tata do that numerous times in MLS games, so I wasn't surprised.

Title IX forced significant investments into women's sports in the United States that other cultures around the world haven't started making until recently, if at all. It basically gave women's sports in the US a 20-30 year head start on everyone else, putting them at the top of the heap in basketball, soccer, etc.

Conversely, the US didn't even have a stable men's pro soccer league until I was damned near out of high school, meaning our men's soccer program was probably 50-60 years behind the rest of the world.
