Evidently Almiron to Newcastle on a 15M pound loan with an option to buy is a done deal.

So... how'd Pity do?

He scored this goal off a free kick his last game, against Gimnasia in the semifinals of the Copa Argentina. They lost on penalties, though. Gimnasia knocked off both of the giants so it's a magical run for them.

On tape, he doesn't look anywhere near as fast as the breakneck pace that Almiron can muster... but he has some FILTHY ball skills.

What a waste that is. Rafa won’t know what to do with him just like he doesn’t know what to do with anyone who can score goals. Then it’ll be another data point for how MLS is supposedly a crap league for English retirees and rejects.

Darren Eales piped up and completely shat on that rumor, for what it's worth. Eales being a former Tottenham man, I've hear Spurs is quietly lurking in all these negotiations.

I kind of thought Germany would be the best place for him, someplace where even the bad teams play attacking football. The Premier League might not fit him anymore this season. He probably wouldn’t get into most of the sides that would turn him loose, and the teams he could play for are going to start playing ugly football to squeak out enough points to not get relegated.

So proud of Atlanta United for closing the deal emphatically with the 2-0 win. Great teams have to be validated by championships. I just hope our Lightning do the same thing this year.

Atlanta would have beat whoever showed up to play them I think, they’re really really good. And now that they have a Cup, MLS is free to drop them like a hot rock and gin up some other city for more cash.

Absolutely clinical win. The result was never in doubt. Should've won last year but ran into a hot keeper. It's been rectified now. I hope more teams follow this formula instead of playing anti football, and hopefully Atlanta can transition more American talent in like they were able to with Gressel.

RiBer get another gift with that expulsion in extra time. Joke reffing for a final.

Pavon and Villa were super disappointing on the wings. Benedetto was taken out too soon. Can't believe we didn't see Tevez come in earlier.

On the plus side, Guillermo should be available to coach Atlanta soon.
