Default Lightning Sign Goalies Curtis McElhinney and Scott Wedgewood

McElhinney gets 2 years at $1.3 Million AAV

Wedgewood is probably a 2-way deal for Syracuse.

Huh. What’s Domingue’s contract? I got very comfortable having such a good backup these last couple years. I don’t think McElhinney is better.

$1.15. They have to have a decent deal in place for him.

Maybe he is something another team wants in order to take a not great contract??? Or, maybe they realize there is no way they are going to be able to pay Vasy next year and....

You all (plural) are wanting improvements, how else do you get other players if you aren’t willing to give up assets?

This makes sense. You pick up another year in term and potentially get something for Domingue before he walks next summer as a UFA.

Domingue isn't THAT amazing. I like him a lot but McElhinney should be somewhat comparable. This gives them cost certainty for another year at least. Domingue is in a position to ask for more at the moment.

Y’all are assuming we are gonna trade Domingue for something valuable. Goaltending performance is funky. Sometimes it’s better to let a guy walk as a UFA.

EE tweet:

Quote:
BriseBois confirms the signing of McElhinney is as much about next year as this year, confirms Domingue has aspirations of more playing time and likely would not sign beyond this season. No immediate plans to make a trade, but knows a resolution will have to be reached
I'm beyond lost now.
