Why? He’s been in a steady decline for a few years now. Dude’s knees are shot.

Default Sorry

I did not know Perry’s knees were shot, knew he had not been as productive but thought it might be their system. I am trying to figure out what power forwards we might go for and thought about him.

I'd be ok with Perry on a cheap 1 year deal, but only late into camp if it looks our prospects aren't ready. Very unlikely none of our kids are ready

I'm curious to see what the market will be for Wayne Simmonds. I don't see him landing a big money, long-term deal that might of been expected a couple years ago. I almost wonder if his camp may look at a one year deal with a contender to boost his value up again. I can't really think of many better places for him to build value than here.

All things being equal, and if I had to pick, I'd take Simmonds. Less on-ice drama and a little more strong play in all areas of the ice..Wouldn't mind that at all if the $$ work. Third line grinder that can also light the lamp on occasion.

If money not an issue, I'm ok with him for size and the fact he plays hard, but I also want to see some of the younger guys get a chance to grow and develop.

Simmonds would be a good get for playoffs IMO because of the changes during the the playoffs we have debated ad nauseam...

Hard to say if he would of helped get us out of first round, but I would bet we win Game 1 if he was here during last playoff series.

I think this team desperately needs more orneriness. Quick, name the last Bolt who picked a fight more than once in a season. You can’t. Wayne Simmonds’ attitude is exactly what our timid bunch of Lady Bing candidates needs. Hopefully he would rub off on some of our young guys who want to win the Cup and now see that skill and finesse ain’t gonna cut it.

And ps - there isn’t a rookie in the NHL who comes up and can provide Simmonds combination of scoring and attitude. Rookies have too much of a learning curve, and they can’t immediately establish that nastiness as their reputation or they’ll be branded like Steve Downey or Evgeney Artukhin. The last Bolt who regularly provoked fights, by the way? Radko Gudas ... who has spent the last 4 years of his career trying to undo the reputation he created in his first two years with the Lightning.
