LOL they sucked in the "BOLTS" thirds also IIRC. Bad luck.

Good eye TNW.

Like so many things in life, the new unis are about 80/20, mostly good. Gotta love the return to black before the door has drawn shut behind Yzerman, for one thing. But they went overboard. They missed another golden opportunity. They're monochrome, not very interesting, just new.

Several of Hoek's suggested designs from a few years back were much better IMO.

Gotta love the "we been working for two years on these" from the CEO. LOL hope it didn't take two years—and another million dollars—to arrive at "Just keep the EXACT SAME uniforms you have now,...except simply switch the blue and white for black and gray!"

I never saw any sort of survey of fans requesting input on this. But, had there been, here's my $.02:

• Numerals, letters, and shoulder patch probably shouldn't be invisible

• Restore collar lace, since it was removed from the main jerseys

• You kept the "BOLTS" word on the neck for "old times'" sake. So, keep a stroke of electric blue around the numerals and the bolts on the pants—like the stroke of black around them on the main unis—for contrast. A hint of that blue on a sea of black...sharp!

• Most important, SWAP THE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY LOGOS for an exciting, new, but totally classic old-time hockey crest. (Who keeps the same crest on their third jerseys anyway? Pretty easy opportunity to really kick ass with these, flubbed right there.)

Make those four little tweaks and they'd never be able to keep them in stock.

First game in the new duds was, predictably, a dud. (The ho-hum roll-out on a random Thursday night in February vs. a western club was a dud, too. It came off like an afterthought. No fanfare, no buildup, no anticipation to build sales...lazy, ham-handed marketing to say the least. Certainly most fans had no idea there were even going to be any thirds at all this year. Fail!) They average about four goals a game; not counting the shootout gimmick, they have scored a whopping two goals in the last three games, even as Vasi has allowed zero goals in regulation in the two he played.

Hopefully this weekend they get back on track vs. PIT and FLA.

Here is Tarasenko/Vasilevskiy. Vasi clearly grabs Tarasenko to slow him down so the bolts can get an odd man rush in OT. Tarasenko rips his arm to get free and Vasi falls. Again, I don't know what you want called in that situation. If anything, Vasi probably got away with a hold/interference call.

Here is the Point embellishment/Dunn trip. Kucherov takes Dunn's skate out and he inadvertently falls into Point. Point gets a slight elbow, and then reacts and falls after the fact. Again, you could argue that the initial call for that sequence could of been a Kucherov trip. Basically my point is that we didn't lose because of some biased officiating that didn't occur.
Eye exam time. Vasi appears to put out his arm, Tarasenko grabs his arm and pulls him down.

Don’t see any embellishment. But Kuch May have committed a tripping penalty.

Pretty clear that Tarasenko should have been in the box.

You can't read the numbers on the back on TV for beans. Those names and numbers really need to be the same solid silver the front crest and arm numbers are.

The jerseys aren't what the fans really wanted. They really wanted the OG black jerseys back.

But, an Oakland Raiders-like jersey was always the fallback I thought would be interesting.

Better get one with a name and number on it, though, or it'll look like a glorified practice jersey.

It's still interference to stick your free arm out to intentionally disrupt the skaters path back to the play. Defenders get it called on them all the time. It's no different with a goalie.
