Wrong again pete. Science has a very good history on this subject and they have proven over and over this is a very real concern and have back their studies up with 100% factual scientific facts.

But then I bet you, and others here, do not believe that on all issues when it comes to 100% scientific fact.

Shouldn't we look at the situations first, before an overall budget slashing?

Yes, but if you just cut overall funding, then the old problem still remains and there is even less money for the efforts that are effective.

Except that they are just cutting first, without trying to identify what is good meat and which is the fat.

That can not be done if one side refuses to participate.
How can you possibly suggest this with a 'straight face'?

Rebuild it for what? What can't it do right now that building more tanks and planes would allow it to do? We should have a massive swarm of drones and never again put another mass of ground troops into play.

To replace the material and equipment that has been run into the ground by overstretching the military in multiple conflicts around the world, particularly in desert environments that cause the most attrition for that material and equipment. That's the bitch of the needless war in Iraq and the open ended conflict in Afghanistan... the military industrial complex pirated billions from the US taxpayers at the height of those conflicts and now will reap an even bigger boon replacing what was chewed up during the conflicts. Basically, we got screwed coming and going, and in the case of the Iraq War we got nothing of value for it. It didn't make us safer, and it didn't even make us more prosperous if you looked at it as a cynical attempt at an oil grab. So, yeah, there's some outlay that needs to be made to replenish the Armed Forces.

Going above and beyond that in some sort of Cold War era buildup like Trump and the Republicans seem to be attempting would be a foolish waste of resources, though, at a time when the US's infrastructure is crumbling. As I've mentioned before, over 70% of public K-12 schools in the US were built in the 1970's or earlier. The right wingers want to bitch and moan about public school teachers, but the fact of the matter is that it's unfair to ask them to prepare kids for an iPad world in leisure suit digs. Remember that the next time Waiver sheds his crocodile tears about the children and babies in Syria. His party has no qualms with keeping American children trapped in crumbling public schools so defense contractors (that write big checks to Republican politicians) can pocket millions upon billions.

BTW, I read an interesting story earlier today that suggests that perhaps Republicans electing a serial sexual assaulter has already uncorked the rage of female voters who are getting more involved in the political process than ever before.

Emily's List, which is the Pro-Choice PAC that supports female candidates for office said they were contacted by just ~900 potential candidates for the 2016 cycle for offices ranging from local school boards all the way up to federal races for House and Senate. They say they've already received over 11,000 inquiries from women looking to run for the 2018 cycle. The Women's March wasn't an illusion. There's a political backlash of historic proportions that appears to be forming that could make the Tea Party look like, well, a tea party.

LMFAO at Waiver lauding all that money Komrade Trumpski is saving us! Did he go to Mar a Lago again this weekend? Or golf at one of his courses so that we could pay him for it? Is Barron done with school in NYC yet so he and Melania can move to the White House (the one in D.C.)? THIS is your fiscal conservative???!

And one more thing about Waiver Traitor. He's a bald-faced liar. A YUGE liar. He did not ever say "both sides do it" when his Team Red became the party of no and publicly stated its position to oppose everything Obama attempted. There was no "both sides do it" argument for that because it had never happened before. So don't believe his lies that he was standing on a street corner admonishing his own beloved party for doing something he is now complaining about Democrats doing. What a pathetic hypocrite. I dare him to find any evidence in context that would prove he's not a liar.
