Default 2/4 Lightning (23-21-11) vs. Islander (23-25-8)

Puck Drops: 7:30 pm

TV: Sun Sports (HD)

Game Preview:

Quote:
John Tavares, the No. pick in the Entry Draft last June, has struggled over the last six weeks -- a big reason the Isles have had trouble scoring. After firing home 15 goals in his first 31 games, he has just two since scoring a pair in back-to-back games on Dec. 8-9. However, he's still second on the team with 17 goals.

Wonder if Witt being placed on waivers has any effect (here's to hoping so).

Wonder why it seems as if this game is the biggest one of the entire season so far...Maybe because it's so crucial to continue the points/winning streak, at home, against a team we've beaten twice this season. That basically seems to put all the pressure on the Lightning

Sure hope we see Niittymaki in net again tonight--that boy is just scorching hot right now, even getting those miraculous saves at impossible moments when he's down and out, just what the doctor ordered as we crack the playoff picture for the first time in what seems like centuries

Same lineup against the NYI as the ATL game per EE.

Yes, enjoy the game. Been a very high stress week for me, so hopefully the Bolts make me happy tonight.

I realize this is a game thread but is anyone else as disgusted with Ilya as I am - here he sits with 2 more goals and 1 less assist than Stamkos and he turns down $10 mil a year long term - me thinks he does not like peaches

Ilya's a piece of crap imo. Not that I'm a fan of Atlanta by any means, but you've got a franchise offering you 10 million for 7 years, or $104 million over 12 years.. and you want more. He'd be the highest paid player in the league... ever.

He may or may not like Atlanta, but I gotta tell ya...the guy seems to care far more about the benjamins (or roubles) than the game, and any franchise.

I'm not sure a guy like that is good for a team.... ever. Just goes against the fundamental belief that I have about how a player should work within a team concept.

Anyways, back on track, I digress to the game.

This one's huge guys. Obviously a win is needed anytime we take the ice, but a regulation win can really really help us tonight. I know Tavares has been struggling, but I think he's gonna be big tonight. Just a hunch.. we'll have to bring our A game.

Go Lightning!
