I'm actually ok with Roberts if he's on the 4th line or so.

Not so sure about Malone. I'd love to have him, but using ANY asset on a guy said he intends to make it to July 1st seems like a bit of a waste IMO.

But if we can get him. Woo. Prospal-Lecavalier-St. Louis and Malone-Stamkos-top 6 forward = yummmm

I'm more concerned about what Roberts has left in the tank at his age than I am with his infuriating antics. They aren't infuriating when he plays for your team.

By the way, is anyone concerned about the new group's obvious disregard for draft picks? Granted they haven't given away a first-rounder or anything, but that's three picks they've dealt away just so they can negotiate with would-be free agents.

I'm not of that school, if I don't like someone I don't like them. Gratton won me over a little bit, but I can't see King Diver winning me over.

You are very right to be concerned about how much he has left though. If we must sign that loser, it had better be a really cheap contract.

Not really, not unless we go into the next draft without picking up a few more along the way. They're not giving up anything really high, and I think their current thinking is the UFA period is going to be a huge dogfight with overinflated prices everywhere. It's worth a few draft picks to get the players you want at the price you want. It remains to be seen if they're successful.

Not concerned yet, to be honest. If this season blows up, there's always the trade deadline to replace, if not improve, those picks.

They're not trading away top-60 picks like they used to, so I'm ok with it. I'm also ok with bringing Roberts in for veteran leadership.

I'm so not sold on Ryan Malone though. Not sure he's a good fit for Stamkos.

Amen. Teams will cough up picks for the likes of Roberts and Prospal.

If they do end up signing Malone, do you think they will target anybody else for Stamkos' other wing, and if so, who would be the best fit with Malone in the mix? Does a right handed presence (Vrbata) get targeted?

Questions abound.

Glad to see the ownership are as good as their word, as I reckon trading for the rights of Prospal, Malone and Roberts is pretty damn agressive as promised.

Malone should be a good player if we can sign him, would have prefered Rolston but hey you cant get everything, and he didnt want to be traded to Columbus but he said ok to here. Surely that means something right?

Not sure about the Roberts rights trade/supposed signing, but still he can teach Stamkos how to check the time, combine that with his Carolina worthy diving and we have a winner

For whatever it's worth, new VP of Hockey Operations Brian Lawton was Malone's agent before Lawton gave up being an agent to pursue a job in a front office.
