Default NHL Game Night: 2-12-19 Flames at Lightning

Lightning crush Flames in measuring stick contest.

CGY-3
TB-6

Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed 3 goals on 22 shots for the win. He only faced twelve scoring chances all night, so it was a light work night for Vasiy where he got plenty of goal support.

First Period
11:54 TB Point (33), (Miller, Kucherov)(PP)
16:06 TB Paquette (9), (Martel, Callahan)
17:19 TB Kucherov (25), (Stralman, Point)
18:06 CGY Giordano (12), (Lindholm, Gaudreau)(PP)

Second Period
9:13 CGY Monahan (28), (Lindholm)
10:10 TB Cirelli (11), (Kucherov, Gourde)
16:11 TB Gourde (15), (Coburn, Stamkos)

Third Period
5:01 TB Stamkos (30), (Kucherov, Point)(PP)
14:11 CGY Monahan (29), (Lindholm, Gaudreau)(PP)

Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point, and Steven Stamkos were the game's three stars.

Jon Cooper said going into tonight's game he was viewing this as a measuring stick game for his club's overall defensive game going against one of the Western Conference's top teams and one whose speed gave the Lightning some trouble the last time the two teams played. Verdict: Lightning. Even without Ondrej Palat or Erik Cernak in the lineup, the Lightning held the Flames to just twelve scoring chances in the game, eight shots on goal in the first thirty minutes of play, and twenty-two shots in total. It was a tour-de-force that allowed the Lightning to cruise to a solid and definitive victory.

Danick Martel had a helper and was +1 with 2 hits in 10:21. He stays ready. He doesn't play very much, but when his name is called he's impactful.

Adam Erne had 1 shot and 2 hits in 10:24. Had a handful of scoring chances in the Second Period that might've allowed the Lightning to nail the coffin shut on the Flames even earlier than they ultimately did. Tonight marks Erne's graduation from prospect status on the website. That likely just leaves Cernak to round out the 2018-2019 Bolt Prospects Alumni class.
