Connor Ingram had stopped 49 of 50 shots before getting beat by the 51st shot he faced, ultimately resulting in Florida winning in double-overtime and advancing to the conference finals for the second straight year. The Everblades took all three games in Orlando and won the series, 4-1, though three of the wins came in overtime. It was a good showing by the Orlando Solar Bears, who were the final Tampa Bay Lightning affiliate left playing.

The Lightning organization, aside from a few NHLers participating in the World Championships, is entering the offseason in its entirety now. All prospects are finished for the year.

There will be a few decisions to be made on the prospect front, such as what will be done with Connor Ingram? Although he has another year left on his entry level contract, Ingram fell out of favor with the Syracuse Crunch - where he was an all-star this season - and was eventually demoted to the ECHL for the remainder of the season. It’s possible, like Anthony DeAngelo and Jonathan Drouin before him, that he is dealt in the offseason, though Syracuse starter Eddie Pasquale is an unrestricted free agent and tryout player Ante Tolvanen has committed to playing in his native Finland.

Aside from Ingram, prospect Mitch Hults spent the majority of his season in the ECHL and is a restricted free agent. If the organization feels he won’t help the Crunch, he’s likely to be free to seek a deal elsewhere. Hults was acquired from the Ducks for future considerations in October. Anaheim had taken Lightning prospect Jake Dotchin and needed to shed a contract and the Lightning were willing to take Hults.

Orlando finished the year second in the South Division and gave first-place Florida all it could handle in the second round of the playoffs. Had they not been in the same division with the league’s best team, it’s a good bet they would have made the conference finals.

On to next season.
