Default Rick Peckham to Retire after 2019-2020 season

I’m really sorry to hear this.

Lightning broadcaster Rick Peckham announces he will retire following the 2019-2020 season

Matt Sammon departs under mysterious circumstances. The VP of corporate communications has an announcement today and now Rick.

Sounds like the Lightning want to move in a different direction.

Hmm Pierre McGuire May be available.

Rick is getting up there in age. I was expecting this at some point after Chief semi-retired. I don't think it's tied to the other changes as much.

Their VP of marketing Eric Blankenship was let go too.

I don't blame him for wanting to retire, but he will be dearly missed. He will certainly leave some big shoes to fill. Pekham is one of the top play-by-play announcers in the NHL. He's been the only TV play by play announcer we've ever had, so he really is the voice of the Lightning broadcasts.

Blankenship was probably fired because he played a big part in approving the design for that new third jersey

Going to miss him when he retires. He's enjoyable to listen to. It would be nice if he could end his career with another Stanley Cup with the Lightning.

The pro's pro. There's a reason(s) he's been selected to call other games on NHL networks. I'm hoping the only reason is that he's ready to slow down a little. I commend Chief for his move, and we'll see if this the the reason for Ricks' decision.

In his own words, Rick Peckham will sign off for the final time following our 2019-20 #Bolts season.

That is the gist of the article
