Even SY says he needs to find another defenseman for the run and someone that can win a faceoff. This maybe that time as Sustr, Coburn and Dotchin have not been playing all that well.

Good thing Girardi will be back.

This is a much needed break and could not have come at a better time as Vasy and Sergachev are starting to look a little on the tired side.

...who knows, taking a break could help him recharge and refocus during rehab

Iíd tell him to take the full six weeks. Thereís ZERO reason for him to rush back. Only thing it probably costs TB is the Presidentís Trophy, and I really donít care a lot about that.

This shows you how fragile the knee joint can be. This impact appeared to be sooo minor..similar to 91ís knee last year. But, if the skate simply gets in a deep rut, and your leg is going in another direction, even at slow speed, the ligaments can be strained or torn. In that scenario, it doesnít take much torque on the joint to wreck it. As said above, the prognosis is better than we initially thought. And there could be positive and unintended consequences from this injury.

And for everyone who was wringing their hands about Koekkoek, now's his shot. I told you all it would come. Now it's here. I suspect he draws in regularly and that they'll play 7 D and you'll see a lot more of guys spotting on their off side, which can all be a positive thing in the long run.

I though Yzermanís comments in the paper about Kook were trenchant and I hope Cooper plays him more minutes, this is his chance to shine. Pete is right about Hedman taking his time, we have points banked and winning the Presidents trophy is like the kiss of death. The prize is the CUP and that is what they need to focus on. Oh maybe bring up Erne and Cernak for a cup of coffee, I have a feeling they will help in the CUP run.

I worry that they're going too increase his minutes too much and too early in his career... I think they need to stick with their development plan for him... He was already looking like he had hit a wall with his play the last week or so...

Don't know about that. Boston has come on fire as of late and the Caps are not far behind.

Don't really care about the President's Trophy as I want the only one that really matters.
