Atlanta United is letting USF soccer use their new training grounds during the storm. Knowing United, those kids are getting scouted while they're there.

This must have been something like when Real Madrid plays, like, Eibar.

New England went down 2 men early on hand balls in the box, and things just snowballed. Atlanta may have a big time advantage in the new stadium. They're one of the fastest teams in that league and that track only accentuates it.

Sellout in Atlanta's fancy new digs for this game in Orlando, starting right now on Univision.

Entertaining game ends in a 3-3 draw. Atlanta was playing their third game in about a week (after winning 3-0 against Dallas and 7-0 against New England) and Orlando was playing without Kaka. Martinez with his second straight hat trick. He's only 3 out of the league lead in goals despite having missed half the season with various ailments.

74K in attendance broke some US soccer attendance records. I was there. Lovely atmosphere, but MARTA and the rest of Atlanta's transit is not set up for the peak loads a soccer match put on the system. It's not like football where people filter in and out of the game. With soccer, everyone shows up at the same time and leaves at the same time. Quite a cluster.

Really fun game to watch but all three goals allowed by Atlanta were by pretty wide open headers. Sheesh.

Well, Atlanta was without arguably their best defender, Pirez, due to yellow card accumulation. But, yeah, Atlanta's vulnerable in the air against bigger teams. No doubt about it.

Atlanta United clinched a playoff spot by clubbing Philly like a baby seal 3-0 last night. They finished their inaugural homestand at MBS 5-0-1 and now sit in 3rd in the Eastern Conference. They're just 3 points back of NYCFC with a game in hand, and the 1st and 2nd seeds in MLS get an opening round bye in the playoffs. Atlanta did lose Miguel Almiron to a hamstring injury early in their last game, a 2-0 win over Montreal, and he won't be back until at least their regular season finale against Toronto.

IF they can nick the #2 seed, I think they've got an opportunity to win it all. Playing NYCFC at that glorified greyhound track, Yankee Stadium, is a disadvantage Atlanta may not be able to overcome because it nullifies a lot of their speed advantage. But, conversely, I think if they get NYCFC on the wide turfgrass field at MBS, they might boat race them on the way to the ECF, where anything can happen.

If Atlanta wins it all they punch a ticket to the CONCACAF Champions League where I'm insanely curious how they would do. Finally there would be an MLS team that can match Mexican clubs in possession and attack, although depth would be an issue.
