Herman Cain dies after not wearing a mask at the Tulsa rally from an underlying cause.

3 Months Of Hell: U.S. Economy Drops 32.9% In Worst GDP Report Ever

Another 1.43 million people filed for state unemployment last week, an increase of 12,000, the Labor Department reported Thursday. It was the second week in a row of increased unemployment filings and shows that the economic picture continues to remain grim.
All of the above happened with the stimulative unemployment supports still in place. Cut them by 2/3 and what do you think will happen?

Obama just endorsed doing away with the Senate filibuster in John Lewis' eulogy.

I told you, they won't let McConnell do to Joe what he did to Barack.

After years of not matching the threat to democratic processes from Republicans symmetrically, Democrats are finally starting to get on a war footing. And, yes, it has to be this way.

Didn't the filibuster protect Democrats and the ACA for the first two Trump years though?

Nope.

Quote:
On July 25, 2017, the United States Senate voted to proceed to debate on the American Health Care Act. The Senate voted 50-50, largely along party lines with the Republicans for and the Democrats against proceeding, requiring Vice President Pence to cast the tie-breaking vote. Republican Senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska crossed the aisle to vote against the motion.[51]

On July 27, 2017, the Health Care Freedom Act, also known as the "skinny repeal", was introduced. This bill was defeated 4951, with Republican senators Susan Collins, John McCain, and Lisa Murkowski voting against it along with all the Democrats and independents.[52]

But Democrats could have filibustered if they had wanted to right?

Harry Reid's former Deputy Chief of Staff keeps it real...

Quote:
Not a part of the original Senate, the filibuster was born in the 19th century primarily to protect slavery. In the 20th, to protect Jim Crow, white supremacists turned it into the supermajority threshold we know today. President Obama just killed it... if Dems retake the Senate.

And it needs to die. You cannot give Mitch McConnell a veto if Democrats are handed unified control of government with an overwhelming mandate to lead at this moment in history. I better damned well see the most furious first 100 days since FDR wheeled into office.
