Smok's 22nd birthday is today. I liked his play, hope he gets another chance in Tampa.

Shocking indeed, but there really was no need for hitting R2 from behind like that.

I didn't get a good look at it, but couldn't Recchi's frustration be a general thing, and he wasn't angry about the shot that was taken?

That was indeed a phantom high-sticking call. No contact at all from what I saw.

Yeah, another gem by the refs. How could these guys possibly get more out of touch with the flow of the game? They insist on calling the stupid inconsequential taps and then then don't call players getting tripped in the offensive zone.

Smoke and Chewy really played well. They didn't look like timid 1st-gamers in the slightest.

That was a bit of a weak decision on Malone's part, but like you said, If Malone gets called, then where's Sbisa's call? And why didn't Biron do anything to get back to his crease instead of standing there? Earlier in the game, Biron clearly hooked a TB player and there was no call.

after watching again, malone could have been smarter there..but the ref could have gotten away by calling Sbisa for interference as well and evening it out.

But he won't. TAM only has 6 d-men on the current roster.

All he did was wave his arm & Olczyk starts attacking his character. It could've been about anything or nothing, huge overreaction on Olczyk's part.

Malik was awful last night, IMO not typical but it looks like he's one of the new whipping boys.

At least the penalty kill is looking a lot better and much more responsible. I'd like to think that it's no coincidence it's started to show big improvements since Sullivan came back.

Last night notwithstanding, they were 20 for 22 in the PK prior. I won't let an outlier detract from a general overall improvement.
