Default World Junior Championships

Just a quick note about Brayden Point in this game vs Slovakia. He's not getting much ice time but every time he steps on the sheet he is a difference maker and just scored a goal on a really nice one timer as he cut across the middle. I saw him at camp this year and thought he looked ok but that was camp. This was something different and he can really elevate his game. One shift he took on a guy 60lbs heavier and got off 3 shots in succession. He has great heart and desire. If he can physically get strong enough to stand up to the nhl rigors he has a real shot at making Murray and Stevie Y look like geniuses yet again. I will be rooting hard for this kid.

I've seen the comparisons to T. Johnson and don't see it. Just the size makes it an easy way to compare...but his play is very different. Plus Johnson is extremely athletic and fast ... on another level. Point is more technical in his approach...his pin point accuracy from below the dots on his wrister is his biggest asset along with his hockey IQ.

Tampa is rumored to be putting in a bid for the 2018 World Juniors.

I'd love to have it here, though not at the prices they were charging in Toronto and Montreal. It would bomb then.

Gonna bump this. We've got Masin on Czech Republic and Point & Stephens on Canada this year.

Schedule

Czechs lost 2-1 to Russia in the shootout in what sounds like a good game for Masin who is captain of the squad. Canada plays USA at 1PM.

Great come from behind win for USA to win the gold as we stopped all 5 shooters in the shootout.

How did all our prospects fare in the tournament? I heard them say we had a team high 5 on Canada alone. Sounds like our farm system is being replenished once we can't afford players on the big club.
