I'd love to know what SY's strategy is for this current glut of talent. We have too many NHL ready forwards and too many (49? out of 50) contracts right now to allow flexibility. I really hope he will exact some value from this. I mean Connolly, Panik, Vladdy, Brown, Kuch, Paquette are all NHL ready guys that could fetch value from other teams. I am not saying trade them all but I don't want to see them rot in Syracuse and then just leave for nothing when their contract is up. I get that we'll want some of them for depth but the lightning don't have an old injury prone group up front so we may not need quite so much depth. I'd love to see Connolly, Panik and/or Brown start hot and SY use that as opportunity to unload one or two of them.

I'd just love to know what SY's strategy/gameplan is.

He will be patient, let certain guys play up their value for a year or two, and flip them for picks and/or playoff rentals knowing he has replacements already lined up.

I think if we want to protect our assets you left off one very important stat. Who does not have to clear waivers?

Seems to me the Lightning tipped their hand by dressing Namesy and Kuch over JAM and Dump Truck tonight. Looks like both the Russians have made it, IMO.

One thing is missing - we need to fit under the cap which means just under 1.9 mil has to be let go at least for the hotel stay. Then they can put the LTIR on Ohlund to use.

We could see Morrow at 1.5, Drouin AHL rehab on some form of IR to start the season to get over hump.

Sustr is waiver eligible for another 12 games. This is all about dollars and who do you want to potentially lose going forward from here.

Tough decisions but the cap and waiver eligibility will weigh into any and all decisions.

Default decision process has to account for cap

and contract numbers and waiver vulnerability obviously. Also, future money needs such as in Stammer contract will also begin to be factored in all decisions by the FO. Tons of talent and an owner checkbook to spend to the max and yet have no room to wiggle... Is it a nice problem to have? expectations are gonna be high and hard to meet. Unfortunately, even our draft choices are gonna have big contract numbers given draft round slots we now own. No easy choices for SFY, but I would also like to add the caveat of who might be positively motivated to have to head to SYR and who would sulk as an important factor in the SFY decision.

The top six defensemen are set with Hedman, Stralman, Garrison, Carle, Gudas, and Brewer. This is a huge improvement over last year.

That leaves us with Barberio. Sustr and Witkowski fighting for two slots, one being the 7th defenseman and the other serving popcorn until called upon.

Looking at the top 6 I do believe that we can keep Witkowski as our "semi enforcer" and thus either Sustr or Barberio will go down.

No bolts on waivers so that means barring any trades Barberio, Panik, and Connolly are on the final roster.
