When I was younger I came up with a Lightning jersey design that used the shoulder patch as the crest, and was somewhat like the 1999 All-Star game jerseys except with jagged lightning edges instead of straight lines.. I thought it looked pretty neat. It wasn't overdone.
I like that as a third jersey concept.

The plain crest with just the bolt on the silver base with some black and blue worked in would be oh so sexy. I'd buy one. A Dana Tyrell one. Keep it simple. I'm really digging the idea of using silver on the home jerseys and just go with road whites.

Time to buy all new merchandise including a $200 jersey. I've been wearing St.Louis since my first jersey, I'll probably get another #26 even though some would think it would be the smartest to get a SS91..

Wish the team could either go back to the original or just not change at all.

DC picking up the story, though it sounds like it's just citing the Icethetics blog.

This part is interesting though:

Announcements from the team are expected soon, perhaps as early as this week, concerning business and fan initiatives and what is believed a renovation of the St. Pete Times Forum.

I do know they are in the process of refurbishing the suites. They have been doing several at a time, moving the current suite holders to other temporary suites while the work is completed.

Overheard some employees at last game talking about a dark period with no events in the summer due to renovations.

Oooh, sounds like they're really up to something there!

This is linked elsewhere on the board, but I figure it's worth bringing up here

DC goes into more details:

Quote:
The primary colors apparently will be blue (close to what is used now with the third jersey) and white. Sounds as if the color black, which has been the team's prominent color, and the silver trim will be gone. The logo on the home jerseys is expected to be just a prominent lightning bolt without the words Tampa Bay that are used now. The road jerseys are expected to have the lightning bolt and the words Tampa Bay, though no immediate word on how the design will look. It is believed there also will be the classic strings at the front of the collar.

It also is unclear whether the third jersey will be retained as its color is believed to be so close to that of the home, dark jersey.
I know some complain about the black jerseys, but I like them. Sounds like I'd better buy a few before they disappear.

Big on getting rid of the wording on the crest, if that is true.

To be honest, I really like the new jersey concept, bit I am not looking forward to buying a new jersey...

I don't even have any of the new jerseys but if they're getting rid of black I'm definitely buying one.

Man, I hope they don't deviate from the existing color scheme. Black, white, silver, and blue = classy.
