Interesting.
Pretty good signing IMO. Low risk/High reward. Works to shore up the right side D weakness.

Gonna be hard for Cal Foote to make the roster now.
Hedman-Shattenkirk
McD-Cernak
Coburn-Sergachev
Masin

Rutta, Schenn in the minors with Foote.

We have 49/50 contracts per Capfriendly, with Point and Erne unsigned. Gotta think a Domingue trade is imminent. Also might towards a Point bridge, because 8.5 for Point and 2 for Erne was pretty much going to take us to the cap, before this signing.

Getting more and more impressed with Brisebois. Low risk, here's hoping for a reward!

This pretty much confirms that Masin won't make the NHL roster. I would lean towards him not being claimed anyway.

So maybe I'm wrong on this...but I thought Masin signed a two way deal. Does he still have to clear waivers? I would think that keeping Masin over Schenn or Rutta would be a better move then risking losing a young depth defenceman..

Cooper has some real interesting decisions to make on line combinations.

Does he still stay with

Hedman/Sergachev
McDonagh/ Cernak
Coburn/Shattenkirk
Rutta

Or

Hedman/Shattenkirk
McDonagh/Cernak
Sergachev/Rutta
Coburn

I wonder if Shinn would be willing to accept a trade given that his opportunity to play is going to be limited.

Yes - he has to clear waivers. I agree Derek, Im not sure he gets claimed.

No - keeping a marginal player over experienced defensemen makes no sense.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I see this as Masin most likely to be the 7th because of waivers. I would think keeping Masin is a higher priority than Rutta or Schenn. Maybe he could pass through, who knows. Would seem like a problem to lose Masin for nothing, more so than Rutta or Schenn. Or maybe I misunderstand your second point.
