Default NA Juniors Game Night: 12-6-13

Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

Quebec Remparts 4 @ Halifax Mooseheads 3 (SO)

C/W Adam Erne, QUE: 1-0-1, E, 10 PIM, 1 SOG, 1 Hit, 5/9 FO
Season totals: 29 GP, 12-23-35, E, 45 PIM
2012-2013 Season: 68 GP, 28-44-72, +11, 67 PIM

C/W Jonathan Drouin, HAL: 0-0-0, -1, 0 PIM, 2 SOG, 0 Hits, 4/7 FO
Season totals: 23 GP, 17-33-50, +18, 22 PIM
2011-2012 Season: 49 GP, 41-64-105, +48, 32 PIM

What was supposed to be a match up of two of the Lightning’s top prospects turned into a sideshow of sorts as Erne hit Drouin from behind in the game and was ejected. Drouin was hurt on the play but played on the ensuing power play before leaving the game with concussion symptoms. Erne had a goal before his hit, extending his point streak to nine games. Before the incident the two had exchanged stick taps to acknowledge the other. The two were prospect standouts at the Lightning’s camp in September and will likely be on the Lightning in the next 1-2 years together – if not on the same line together. They’ll certainly remember the time Erne knocked himself and Drouin out of a junior game. Hopefully Drouin is okay; he may have a scar to remember the hit.

Ontario Hockey League

Barrie Colts 2 @ Kingston Frontenacs 5

D Jake Dotchin, BAR: 0-0-0, +1, 2 PIM
Season totals: 26 GP, 5-10-15, +18, 58 PIM
2012-13 totals: 66 GP, 4-18-22, E, 81 PIM

W Henri Ikonen, KGN: 0-1-1, E, 2 PIM
Season totals: 26 GP, 13-26-39, +16, 25 PIM
2012-13 totals: 61 GP, 22-29-51, +2, 30 PIM

Dotchin vs. Ikonen didn’t have the drama of Erne vs. Drouin. Ikonen’s Frontenacs got the best of Dotchin’s Colts, 5-2.

Windsor Spitfires 4 @ London Knights 5 (OT)

D Slater Koekkoek, WSR: 1-0-1, -2, 6 PIM
Season totals: 29 GP, 7-17-24, +27, 16 PIM
2012-13 totals: 40 GP, 6-23-29, -24, 28 PIM

Koekkoek had a rare minus game (-2). He was on the ice for London’s overtime winner, scored by Coyotes first rounder Max Domi. Koekkoek took two tripping penalties and was also called for interference.

What in the blue fuck is Erne doing there? If that's anyone but Drouin it's still 100% boneheaded and should get him banned multiple games. The fact that he laid that kind of hit on a possible future teammate makes it orders of magnitude worse.

Fucking idiot.

He then went on to blame Drouin for it...called him diver and blamed him for diving into the boards and hurting himself. I had to read his comments twice because I couldn't believe he said them.
Quote:
“They were both cheap shots,” said Ashley referring to his and Drouin’s ordeal.

But, Erne didn’t see it that way.

“He wasn’t far from the boards and I pushed him pretty hard,” said Erne, who also received a game misconduct for the hit. “I thought it was a dive and I thought everybody else did, too. I wouldn’t have even gotten a penalty if he didn’t dive into the boards.”

He also said that Drouin could have absorbed the hit standing up, and avoided injury.

“If he dives and goes head first he’s going to hurt himself,” added Erne, who also knocked Murphy out of the game with a shoulder check before stealing the puck and scoring the game’s first goal.

What will Adam Erne and Cedrick Desjardins get you in trade these days?

Fucking ridiculous, Erne. You not only see numbers (which is ALREADY a sign you should let up), you see THOSE numbers of your future teammate and you don't let up? He's not a dessert, dude.

That said, it's a massive overreaction to immediately make him trade fodder. But he's gotta clean that up in any case because that is just a stupid, reckless penalty.

DAMMIT ERNE! That is not the way to move up the BP rankings!
I'm all for being competitive, but c'mon.

If Erne truly is trying to play like Scott Hartnell (whom he said he emulates his game after), then this reaction from everyone is obvious. I get the competitive spirit, even after the game, but that was a little far.

Erne is still young, so maturity can easily curb those thoughts after a game. Trade him? Nope, not yet IMO.

I'm not being serious, but that doesn't make it any less of an absurdity
