Default 2014 NHL Draft

So I know the draft is still six months away but the junior seasons are almost half way through and I just wanted to throw some names out there and see what you guys think about them.

So assuming were going to pick between the 20-30 slot in the draft hopefully here's some names of some players that I think Tampa may have an eye on.

Anthony DeAngelo- Defenseman 5'11 175lbs- He's very offensively minded and is a big point producer and leading OHL defenseman by a wide margin points wise but from what I've seen and read of him there is a lack of attention to his defensive game but he's on a horrible team (Sarnia) so it might be overall team defense. (Named to Team USA world juniors team)

Roland McKeown- Defenseman 6'1 186lbs- Plays for Kingston in the OHL (same team as Ikonen) Very good offensively and has also improved on his defense this year.

Alex Tuch- RW/C 6'4 225- Big kid that plays in the USHL and could add some much needed size to our forward prospects corps. He's committed to a good hockey program at Boston College.

Definitely should be looking at power forward and defensemen as our top priorities.

Too far to project, lots of prospects need to be evaluated and we don't know where we are drafting, but throwing some names out there.

Nikolaj Ehlers, who plays with Drouin in Hailfax and should be a mid-late first round pick and we should keep an eye on him, although he doesn't fit the bill.

Pavel Kraskovsky, Russian power forward who could be available in the fourth

Brendan Perilini, would be the perfect power forward if he falls to us. Probably a top 10 pick

Ryan MacInnis, looks like a long term power forward project and can play center or wing which is a bonus. He was projected as a mid 1st but he's have a pretty poor season and his lack of speed could make him a candidate as a second round pick for us.

Jack Glover, all around D 6-3 and plays physical, should be available in the late 1st

For me, since last season I paid almost zero attention to draftees, here's to hoping that Honka and DeAngelo leapfrog Hadyn Fleury so he's on the board when we're up.

Ultimately, as always the case, SFY and crew are going to go with who they have on their boards (D or otherwise) but for fun I'd like the following on my board

Hadyn Fleury
Julius Bergman
Josh Jacobs (MSU)
Ryan Mantha (ND) - Although I worry because The Sioux seem to be trending downward and concerns of devlopment come to mind or can Hakstol get them back on track

Still like to see what develops with the following over the remaining 4 months

Roland McKeown
Adam O. Mattsson
Jonathan MacLeod (BU)
Brycen Martin
Jack Glover (Minny - Would like to see he and Wilcox start building a dynamic before Wilcox leaves)

Agreed on Jack Glover I think he has a lot of potential.

One name to watch for as a possible second or third round pick is:

Alexis Vanier: Defenseman 6'5 230lbs- This kid is absolutely huge and he's been a kid that I really am intrigued by. Last year he was more of a defensive d man but this year he's been expanded in his role and so far has
21pts in 26 games. One other thing is this kid can fight and good too. (all his fights have been decisively won by him).

The D-men in this class don't exactly excite me, but it's very early. I suspect they might end up drafting a center, though.

If they do draft a defenseman, I suspect it'll be someone who could compliment Hedman. They need better D prospects in the system, especially righties.

I hope our BPA's have big bodies. We need to address the lack of size in our future.

Adrian Kempe. MODO. Look him up. Very Killorn-esque player, but a center by trade.
