In the Times it said something like he has been skating and wants to see how it feels playing the goal. I think he could be back sooner than we had hoped.

While he could be back soon, high ankle sprains and goalies do not mix well. He also could easily be out for the rest of the season.

And you can end this for once and all with your Tampa Tribune Easter Edition.

From the get-go those rumors were obviously complete bullshit. Everyone who harped and carped for Marty St. Louis to get shipped off can guzzle a nice tall glass of STFU (sit there & finally unwind) because he ain't going away.

We'll just have to deal with his consistent point production & inspiraton to the younger players

Just passing this along

Not new, from the 27th, and from a guy named "Incarcerated Bob", so take with grain of salt, three cigarettes and a shiv...

The buzz we hear from a source is the trade is very close to done, Tampa gets the superstar goalie they crave and the rebuilding Sabres getting young power-fwd Brett Connolly in what would be another major trade in the Eastern Conference.. This deal from the Sabres standpoint is all but done barring a last minute hitch. More parts may also be added to this deal.

Maybe from the Sabres' standpoint. But from a reality standpoint...??? I'll believe it when I see it

The categorization of Connolly as a power forward is where it ends for me.

Why would Buffalo trade their "Super Star Goalie" to us when we are going to be in their division next year. That would make no sense at all.

Both good points, with or without the quote marks. As I said, I was just passing the data along FWIW

As to whether Miller would indeed be a superstar upgrade worth having, I decided to do a little wiki fact check...abbreviated summary:

'01 Hobey Baker Award winner - Top College Player
'05 Top Goaltender - AHL
'05-06 1st season as starter: 11th in NHL in GAA, 9th in SV%; Conf Final
'06-07 Won 1st 10 games in a row; named starting goalie, NHL All-Star Game; Conf Final
'08 Allowed 1 goal in 1st-ever US outdoor game Jan. 1
'07-08 76 GP, 2.64 GAA, .906 SV%; named "Leaf Killer" by TOR media
'09-10 GAA <2.00, SV% .929 before Olympics; Silver Medal; MVP of entire tournament w/ GAA 1.35, SV% .946; named top goaltender in IIHF; Vezina Trophy winner
[Insert recent negative data here to cancel]

So yeah, arguably would be slight upgrade in net for us, in the exceedingly unlikely event we nab him. He's so not the same as anything we've ever had in net--including Khabibulin, who very nearly played himself onto the bench in spring '04 before waking up from the stupor, stowing the Stoli, and pulling up his jock at the last second
