Default Stamkos ready to talk long term deal.

Quote:
If Tampa Bay general manager Steve Yzerman has his way, star forward Steven Stamkos will be locked into a long-term contract before the season concludes. Stamkos and agent Mark Guy are ready, willing and able to talk about a deal that will keep Stamkos in a Lightning uniform for years to come.

“Both sides want to get going on this,” Guy told Damian Cristodero of the St. Petersburg Times. “We’ll get something started in the next week or two.”

Here's where I'd like to see the 15-year thingie, the kid is so damn good.

Not gunh do it, as Dana Carvey would say, but still. He makes everyone else look like they're moving in slow motion sometimes

Either sign him until his last year of RFA or as many years for a discount as possible

If he can find a way to keep the cap number below $7 million, SFY is the man. Do whatever it takes to keep it there and he's coming in at a huge bargain.

Gotta give the kid more or less anything he wants. It'd be nice to get him for anything between 6-7. Length is the most important factor. He's gonna be good for a looooong time and you want to lock him down as long as possible.

So you're saying length matters.

Like maybe 15 years or so....??

God, Just sitting here and watching this Toronto game shows how good he is. I'd be a miracle if we could get him for 6 million. Stammer can be up there every year with OV, Malkin, and Sindy.

He'll get $9M per. Worth every penny, too.
