Can you please let Tim know on twitter @exterminatorx? He's busy & I don't want to bug him, but he hasn't been on here in over a month though I sent him this link. He runs the server, so it'd be on him to set this stuff up (probably, assuming it's fairly technical).

It's not bad. It's an upgrade in that we can "like" each other's posts. But I want a whole new approach – conversation threading. It allows posts to be grouped with their replies. It's much more intuitive and flows really well. It's more like actual conversations, and it's great for game days too. Look at sites like Deadspin/Gawker and SBNation. THAT is what I'll open my wallet for.

I personally don't care for threading. Makes it easy to lose track of conversation and encourages more tangents.

Another option is Discourse, which is technically free if you're willing to set up the hosting yourself, but seems a bit trickier. It seems to have a little bit of threading as an option. http://www.discourse.org/

Some things I like about threading but overall I agree with Hoek, I think there is more downside than upside

You can use threading here. It's under display modes on the top right.

It doesn't work for long threads, unfortunately.

Huh? How would that work if some individuals use it and others don't? So I can enable threading and start replying to specific posts ... but then if the original poster isn't using the threading view how would s/he know I was replying? This is very confusing!

Maybe we should create some polls and ask all the active users to weigh in on this forum's future (more important than mid-terms!). We could ask if users want threading or not, upvotes/downvotes or liking or recommending posts or nothing, etc. To the polls!!

Oh, and one thing we must all agree on is the ability to embed tweets. Right?

Yes that would be critical. XenForo makes it easier to embed YouTube as well.
