So one of Tuch, Barbashev, Scherbak, or Fabbri will drop to us.

and NBC wonders why they are a fucking joke. Hey lets cut away from the draft of the only major sport we actually cover for a Track and Field event. Really hope ESPN or FOX outbids them the next time around because I am tired of having to watch hockey on fucking CNBC.

I suppose Yzerman felt like he was playing with house money, but I suspect they could've taken Scherbak there and still gotten DeAngelo at 28.

The only explanation is that they wanted DeAngelo more and were unwilling to risk losing him even if that risk appeared minor.

I'm ok with DeAngelo at #19. If he can get his head on straight this has steal potential. Reminds me of Subban a bit in the way he plays. Kind of shocked that the first guy I mentioned in the draft thread 6 months ago ended up being the guy we drafted.

The more amazing thing might be that Yzerman turned that 28th pick into two second round picks. Taken advantage of good ol' Garth Snow.

Great trade of #28...basically it's like we got Garrison plus for moving down 7 spots. As for the pick, I totally give up guessing who Yzerman will select, we haven't gotten a single one of these right. I don't know much about Deangelo except he has character issues and is small and that is why he dropped. I'll have to trust the pick I guess...but Fabbri was there as well as Scherback....wish he dealt back there

Murray talks yesterday about picking BPA, and DeAngelo might have been BPA (minus the character concerns).

But Yzerman's interview was all about picking for need -- he specifically said pick was to shore up the defensive pipeline. Must be concerned somewhat about Koekkoek's shoulders.
