I just know that "not bad" and "just fine" aren't the bars that have been set in the Star Wars universe. Think about this:

Since Return of the Jedi in (1983), there have been 7 movies. Two were well received (Force Awakens, and Rogue One), three drew mixed reviews and endless debate (Revenge of the Sith, The Last Jedi, and Solo), and two were outright hated for the most part (Phantom Menace, and Attack of the Clones). That's a shitty track record over the last 35 years.
Problems with Solo went back long before bringing in a safe director (honestly, full credit to him for salvaging that train wreck). And things are magnified by how well Marvel is doing.

I just don't know why they had to have it in May. I saw it and it was OK, so it was salvaged but not inspired.

Just when you thought the Gunn stuff was all over:

So what you're saying is he could be President of the United States one day?

Wonder if he ever met Trump on Epstein's "Lolita Express".

Too bad, because the Manga and Anime are incredible. I was interested to see what kind of hash they would make of the original material. Sounds like a rental.

Alita was kind of creepy, I got over that, but I couldn't get over the plot holes. A lot of times it was comical how random the characters decisions were, you didn't see the motivation and there was no payoff.

For such a long movie, everything was also very shallow.
