Nobody's happier about this trade than Jeff Gorton.

#tblightning have now traded seven of the last nine players they had taken in the first round, with Cal Foote and Andrei Vasilevskiy remaining. Nolan Foote, Slater Koekkoek, Jonathan Drouin, Vladislav Namestnikov, Tony DeAngelo, Brett Howden, Brett Conolly.

I donít mind losing the 1st, but trading N. Foote is a mistake in my book

Not sure how the lines will shake out, but a Palat-Cirelli-Coleman line could be an elite defensive shutdown line.

Thought we would keep the Foote brothers together. A little discouraging.

Coleman forte is scoring short handed and he is just a tough hombre. I would have looked for a draft choice return in the package from Buffalo for what we gave up. NJ definitely rebuilding and re-tooling. Huge salary cap save if Coleman is as good as expected and hits the top 9. Someone will be a Crunch soon is also a downer for the kids who are up and playing well.

I like Coleman but we paid a premium.

Coleman fits the Lightning mold. Good forechecker, fast, gritty, shit disturber and relentless. He should fit right in. Not upset with any draft picks Lightning have recently traded. Always in favor of addition without subtraction. Draft picks are always a crapshoot.

I'm on board with trading a 1st for a rental....but this is like 2 firsts.

To me, this is an overpay.

What could we have gotten for the first and a prospect other then Foote?

I was hoping for Bold...but this seems off the rails...

Here's hoping this makes us a 98% cup contender, otherwise, not seeing it.

Ninth in the league in hits, known for playing a two-way game, and currently on a pace for 30 goals.

I get the hand wringing about the value given up, but this trade did just make the Lightning A LOT more difficult team to play against.

Would assume this pushes Verhaeghe to the press box.
