Wasn't that the same excuse they used when they lost to Columbus last season? Something about the Blue Jackets having played meaningful games the last month of the season while the bolts could pretty much coast and weren't prepared for the same level of intensity when the playoffs started.
ABSOLUTELY!!!! I was telling people close to me the same thing. I hate the excuse, and I hate more they are already building that excuse into these playoffs. Also tells me they are far from over last year and focused on this year.

The pick is still held by Vancouver. If Vancouver loses the play in series, they keep the pick and next years pick goes to Jersey. If they win, it goes to New Jersey this year.

@FriedgeHNIC

The NHL Playoffs will not be bracketed, but re-seeded after every round. Qualifying will be best-of-five. All other rounds will be best-of-seven.

The National Hockey League announced today that it will transition to Phase 2 of its Return To Play Plan effective Monday, June 8.

Beginning June 8 - subject to each Club's satisfaction of all of the requirements set out in the Phase 2 Protocol - Clubs will be permitted to reopen their training facilities in their home city to allow players to participate in individualized training activities (off-ice and on-ice). Players will be participating on a voluntary basis and will be scheduled to small groups (i.e., a maximum of six Players at any one time, plus a limited number of Club staff). The various measures set out in the Phase 2 Protocol are intended to provide players with a safe and controlled environment in which to resume their conditioning. Phase 2 is not a substitute for training camp.

All necessary preparations for Phase 2, including those that require Player participation (education, diagnostic testing, scheduling for medicals, etc.), can begin immediately. The NHL and the NHLPA continue to negotiate over an agreement on the resumption of play.

I'm 99% sure that it has been announced that it will be at Amalie. They don't want skating in a public arena.

EE said that ice was still down at Amalie a couple of weeks ago. That has been where Stamkos has been skating during his rehab.

To respond to the earlier post. According to the TBT:

The team hopes to use their facilities at both Amalie Arena and the TGH Ice Plex in Brandon. The league set strict protocols about having only six players in the building at a time and sanitizing between groups.

Each group probably needs a four-to six-hour window to skate, work out and get medical treatment and then for staff to clean before the next one. Having three groups could require a 12-to-18-hour stretch.

That seems like a long time - but

Both sites were used today.

The Lightning released some video showing Stammer, Kucherov, Vasi, Shattenkirk, Sergachev, Killorn and others.

Us and Canada are preparing an extension to the border closing to July 31.

Flames are moving their training camp to the US to avoid the 14 day quarantine rule in Canada.
