Meh. It is only 4 or 5 games into the season. Canucks and Coyotes will tumble down.

I agree. Vegas' roster is pretty mediocre to me. It's a miracle what they did last year but that team should not be in the playoffs. I find it off that they wouldn't part with Suzuki for Karlsson but were willing to do it for a 2C in Pacioretty.

Dion Phaneuf is the Senator's highest paid defenseman on the ice today. He's playing for the Kings.

Are shots on goal a lot higher than usual or is that normal for the first part of the season? Three teams had 50+ last night. Carolina had 57. Dallas had 51 and they were on pace for a lot more than that after two periods.

Usually defenses are pretty loose early on. Plus more power plays.

Even allowing for that it seemed high. Anaheim pulled Gibson after two periods because he had already made 40 saves and could barely move. By the end of the second he was staying down in the butterfly long after the shot and leaning on his stick to get back up. Never seen a goalie get replaced due to exhaustion before.

Maybe everyone is playing for possession stats now?

Just watched most of the Leafs/Kings game. Man, they can score goals. Kapanen and Matthews, with Marleau=quite a line. Those guys are going to be trouble, all year.

Right now they are what the Bolts were in 15/16 but with a much deeper roster. Down the middle they are absolutely scary and they always go to the dirty areas of the ice. And lo and behold they go stick to stick with the passes.

Should they find some "D" along the way this could be the year of the Leaf.

I expect nothing less than 7-10 goal games per team when the bolts meet these lads.

But it is early and injuries do happen..... time will tell.
