Not the greatest start. Hopefully that PP jump starts us.

Did better from the 2nd period on but that is not how you draw it up. Thankfully Vasi allowed us to steal it!

That was ugly as sin. Good gawd. Thank goodness for Andrei Vasilevskiy.

After all the sleepwalking through seasons and no-shows in big playoff games, my patience for games like that is going to be almost zero this year. Like I get you can’t be on every single night, but that kind of performance on opening night? Not acceptable.

Take the two points and hopefully wake up. Of note Namestikov and Deangelo were healthy scratches for the Rangers and Howden got his first NHL goal.

Saw that was not surprised with the DeAngelo but Vladdy -Yikes.
However I will note that the two games I watched him in he has not looked good. Sloppy passes and losing most of his puck battles.

PK results were great thank you Vasy. But the scheme is pretty much the same as last year. We gave up something like a dozen shots on the PK that will not get you much going forward.

Points is what you need at this time take them and Vasy to Bern's for a week of Chateau Brion with a couple bottles of the Johnny Walker Blue Label well earned.

Cirelli Joseph and Kilorn were the best line all night and "C" was rewarded with a puck bounce.

Something to think about his goal was the first scored by the vaunted Bolt scorers since the first period of game 5 against the Caps last year. But that passing was splendid for sure. SHOOT the PUCK should replace the Let's Go Bolts chant.

Will give them a pass but sure hope they pick up the pace on shots and diminish those spectacular passes to nowhere land.

Default Sloppy

They started sloppy but ended ok in my book. The shot total for the opponent needs to go down you cannot expect Vasy to face 45 shots every game and still win. They got lucky and now is not the time to waste your luck, SHOOT THE BLOODY PUCK PLEASE, quit trying those so cool passes that rarely work and put the puck on net.

I don’t want to overreact to one game, so I’ll give them about a week to get their engines revving. But I’ll be damned if we turn into the Sharks ... the consistent contender that never wins. More troubling to me is if we keep seeing a lack of focus and intensity or if we fall into that same damn pattern of only trying hard and focusing when backs are against the wall or when motivated by embarrassment (getting blown out, missing the playoffs, etc.). Leadership has been suspect. It cannot continue.
