OK. I get ya.
All I'll say is Smith is probably worth taking a shot with.
I like Jay and I support him for the most part, but that was a verrrry lame excuse for not going after Bryzzz. What, you're gonna make Holmqvist mad? Come on...

The locker room thing with Bryz was definitely a BS excuse.. How could this guy be a friggin locker room problem?

+ YouTube Video

Probably the same lame excuse you'll get about Samsonov, who at least I'll acknowledge was more of a risk at the time, but when you're anal about your payroll that's what happens.. *sighs*

With what payroll money, TBFAN? You can't just suspend reality to your liking.

Huet is just an example. Any "sure thing" would have been good. How about Biron the season before? Bryz this season. I mentioned Vokoun last year but was criticized that "he is always injured", implying that Vokoun wasn't a sure thing.

At what point are we going to stop sugar coating things

Right. Can't think they made the decision on Huet until mid Feb. at the earliest.

Sure things in the league?
Brodeur and Luongo
Yes, there are about 6-7 guys in the next category under like Lundqvist, Turco, Nabokov, Giguere, Miller, Kiprussoff, but again... We ain't getting any of them. Huet is not in that group. As much as i like Bryz. He's not in that group either.
Yes, we could have made a run at Biron. We could have taken a shot at Vokoun. But neither is a sure thing and there's a good chance neither will be in the playoffs.
Smith is the right player right now. If we decide not to extend him, he's making $950,000 next year and will be very motivated with his UFA year coming up.
The only UFA I may have been interested in would be Ellis. But he has less credentials than Smith and will cost more next year.

At what point are you going to understand that ownership wasn't coming up off anymore money this season? Doesn't matter how much Huet was making, the TBL wasn't taking on anymore payroll. You cannot suspend reality.

That is the problem with this whole season. Ownership handcuffed Feaster and he wasn't allowed to make any moves. There were opportunities to improve the club, but ownership wasn't going to allow that to happen.

Why are we still discussing Huet? He is just a single example I brought up as a target Feaster should have or could have went after in a long line of potential suitors stretching back for years. But if your insisting that I focus on the fact that Feaster didn't have the necessary funds to acquire him this season, which I know and not what I meant, than I will concede the point. It only highlights the fact that we entered the year in a miserable situation to begin with, and you cannot say he was helpless to do anything about it last off season.
