Doubt it. He's beyond his ELC and thus subject to waivers, which is why he was a healthy scratch some this year in LA instead of being returned to Manchester. He is also on a one-way contract that was given to him by LA last summer when they re-upped him for a year. I suspect that Lawton will re-up him this summer on a one-way contract, especially since I don't expect to see Bochenski, Tanguay, and maybe even Veilleux and Craig extended. I'm pretty this acquisition was for the NHL club with little/no option for Norfolk.

Default It Would Be Nice

Would be nice to have Purcell in Norfolk. He would be a monster addition for us.

But I'm afraid Timothy is correct. If Purcell winds up in Norfolk is because he played so poorly in Tampa they parked him in Norfolk like Craig this season to play out the string.

Tanquay is certainly not coming back. Bochenski would only be back if he signed a two way this time. I'd love to have Craig back in Norfolk. He has been such a good leader and contributor for us this season. He could have sulked but he's been great. But he's going to try and go with a team that will give him a good shot in the big show.

And I think the perceived upside for Purcell is such that he still would be snagged by another team on waivers and never make it Norfolk. Like Bolthed and I have discussed, Purcell is not to the Bochenski career stage yet.

Default Don't Disagree

According to Cap Central Purcell is making 600,000 this year. So to requalify him would cost 660,000.

I agree his upside is very enticing to a another team who sees him on waivers. I guess it just depends on whether they want to eat the whole salary which they would plucking him off waivers on the way to Norfolk rather than getting him at half price on re-entry waivers.

Yeah... the re-qual would be 660k, two-way deal... but that won't be what he signs for IMO.

Well, that number sure isn't being used by anybody in Tampa Bay now....
