Here's the thing about Cunti... he was drafted out of Europe, so perhaps he has "defected" status and the Lightning have his right indefinitely.

However, Pete thinks that Switzerland is actually still part of the IIHF, in which case his rights are the same as a CHL prospect -- must sign two years after their draft year.

No one seems to know for sure...

Awesome news. I was really worried this wasn't going to get done. Hopefully he and Tyrell can help Norfolk next year.

OT: Next year, Tyrell may not play as well. Given the type of injury that he sustained, I expect him to be in top playing form the following year or the second half of next season. I comparing this to other players who had severe knee injuries.

Luckily, though, Tyrell has age on his side. I imagine his recovery from this injury would be quicker than an older player.

Yeah, but this is the age you can't miss games. It hurts really bad between ages 18-21 to miss games.

Is he expected to miss that much prior to being ready to play?

I could be wrong but the impression I got was that's it. Meaning that's all there's gonna be. I was mid sentence about Fadden, Jung, Wessbecker, and Ward and he cut me off with "We just signed Fadden, it will be announced soon".

He should be ready to go in training camp. I expect him to need about 20 games to get his legs back under him.

I'm not expecting him to light the world on fire in Norfolk, even without a knee injury the transition to the pro game is tough for most junior players in the first year. Sounds like the rehab has been going well, but it's still a timely process. I imagine both guys will be starting out in minor roles on the team.

Lawton gave off the impression that Fadden, Helenius, and Tokarski will be in Norfolk.
