Default Rays/MLB 2018

Rays looked like a AAA team against Chris Sale, 1 hit thru 6 innings. BOS bullpen comes in and blows a 4-0 lead, as the Rays win 6-4 scoring all 6 in the bottom of the 8th inning, then Colome comes in and slams the door in the 9th. They will lose a lot of games this year with guys like Rob Refsnyder as their DH for example, but today the atmosphere was electric during the comeback. It was like a 7th game of the World Series. Tomorrow they will return to their normal 10K+ crowd, but for one day, they feel good tonight, and sent their fans home happy.

To be fair, a lot of teams look like a AAA team against Sale. They need to keep the approach they had in the 8th inning with working counts and getting themselves in favorable counts to drive the ball. There are enough contact hitters on this team to put up some runs, but they will have to take full advantage when the opportunities come.

Whitley out for the season now too. All of the youth coming up suffering injuries, not much to look forward to.

Garrett Whitley. He's an outfielder that was a 1st round pick a couple years ago. He was probably only going to be in Port Charlotte this year, so it doesn't really impact the big club, but he is a top 10-15 prospect with some nice upside so losing a year of development time isn't great.

What Derek said, multiple high profile prospects for the Rays losing development time

Kiermeier out 8-12 weeks with a torn thumb ligament.

And if SPs like Archer can't go more than 5 innings, this bullpen day experiment will blow up by July. The RPs arms will be dragging on the sidewalk by then.

What a cluster.

Yup. He's a loser who has built a loser by overthinking everything. Best thing for this community would be if city/county officials and local business leaders pledge overwhelming financial support (with regards to stadium negotiations) on the condition that he sell the team to a local or at least someone with strong local ties. I'm sick of those annual Sternberg interviews from his personal seats at Yankee Stadium.

Upside of complete failure on the field this season is the No. 1 pick, but baseball isn't like other sports where you can be assured of a star player. Hopefully the Rays will get lucky and a clear star prospect will emerge.

Already did some research and apparently there isn't, at least to this point
