There is definitely merit in what you are saying here. No one can win the Vezina without a solid defense. Bobrovsky went from being a .910 sv% guy to .932 last year. While the team is struggling this year they are still a defense first team especially without Gaborik and Horton and I think that when they play their game it really aids the goalies. I don't think Curtis or Mckenna are guys I'd want to hang my hat on for a long haul.

Well McElhinney posted a shutout tonight. Only faced 20 shots but perfect is perfect. That team is starting to play some defense.

Somewhere in upstate NY, Riku is saying, "See what I mean, Julien, even my thread on BPMB morphs into a discussion about Curtis McElhinney. Curtis Fucking McElhinney!!"

Can we deal CDJ to the Pens or something? I know Riku would have more value and CDJ would be better served backing up Gudi than having a split or Gudi backing up Riku, but still.

Question for those in the know: Is Gudi athletically superior to Riku? Based on his label as Vasi-lite this is kind of what I assumed.

It's a bummer he has nowhere to go at the moment. Hopefully it can be resolved somehow..

Most likely will be bought out and head to Europe or dealt to a team needing goalies for a 7th rounder or excess AHL player.

Can players still be loaned out overseas? I figured it may be too late in the season for them to be allowed to accept players on loans.

Yep players can still be loaned. Columbus loaned Ilari Melart to a KHL team today from Springfield. Sucks for Riku but With Bishop and Lindy going strong in the NHL and Gudlevskis ready for the AHL there is no room. Especially with Vasi possibly coming to the North America next year and then having Wilcox who will be ready a couple years after that.

Helenius on unconditional waivers for the purpose of being bought out.

Damian Cristodero ‏@LightningTimes
Lightning AGM BriseBois characterized efforts to find Helenius a new home as "aggressive." Contract termination will save about $160,000.
