Re: fishy wedge

I'm no golfer, much less an expert. That said, of all the clubs in the bag where you would want the shaft to have some strong flex resistance, wouldn't the one that usually digs the deepest into the earth, and for the shortest shots, be one of them? Weird. Also, club grips are normally leather or some equally tough synthetic, not saran wrap...wouldn't it be kind of hard for the pieces to poke all the way through the grip, then through the skin, and then sever the tendons (some of the toughest tissue in the body)? How far behind the ball did he have to strike the turf to generate those kinds of forces? What kind of swingpath is that? And how muthavuggin hard is he swinging that wedge? Geez Louise, you're not supposed to try to rip the cover off the ball like you're on a par-5 tee. Maybe go up an iron or three next time fer cripes sake.

Starting to sound like maybe my little joke about wood being easier to snap over your knee in a rage might not have been too far off after all. Maybe it was an unfortunate case of tantrum-related injury, maybe not...we'll probably never really know the answers.

Anyway, best wishes to Claude Giroux and his family for a speedy recovery. (Stinkin' Flyer.)

Default Right

You are right TopShelf, that whole thing sounds very fishy. I played a lot of golf in my younger years and never had a metal shaft break, even when I threw the club at a tree.

That happens, particularly with graphite shafted clubs. Had a Callaway 5 metal head snap off the end of the shaft a few years back. Mailed it to them and they replaced, no questions asked.

Unless I'm mistaken, he has to clear waivers to go to Hamilton. Of course, any team claiming him has to keep him on its NHL roster, which is hit or miss (more miss) right now. He's just not NHL caliber yet.

Just a matter of time when he fires Jay and takes over the GM role.
