Racism isn't going away any time soon. All we can do is educate and filter out the level in which it is acted upon. But if you think blacks have it rough in that regards, try being a white man living in an inner city predominantly black neighborhood. Nothing subtle about the racism that goes on there.
Here is the full quote for context: We must, however, acknowledge, as it seems to me, that man with all his noble qualities, with sympathy which feels for the most debased, with benevolence which extends not only to other men but to the humblest living creature, with his god-like intellect which has penetrated into the movements and constitution of the solar system with all these exalted powers Man still bears in his bodily frame the indelible stamp of his lowly origin.

Also, it's not a minority support of gay marriage in regards to Prop 8, either. In a recent poll conducted by Gallup, 52% of respondents were in favor of supporting a law legalizing gay marriage.
And it all depends on the poll you read. You posted a poll that was a national poll, not California.

Times have changed since Prop 8 went into effect. Back them 55% or so voted for Prop 8. Today just over 50% support the courts ruling. I am happy that the court finally got it right.

Then if you look at another poll that claims over 50% do not support gay marriage.

Quote:
Forty-three percent of those surveyed agreed or strongly agreed with the court's decision to strike down the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act, which limited federal recognition of marriage to that between a man and a woman. The poll of 410 people who were asked separate questions about each ruling was conducted from Wednesday, the day of the rulings, and Friday.
Small numbers with 410, but it is what it is.

Somewhat related as a Bolt decides to speak up...

NHL stars blast Russia's anti-gay legislation

Quote:
Zetterberg, the Detroit Red Wings captain who will likely represent Sweden in the Olympics, reportedly told Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet that the law is "awful, just awful."

"I think that everyone should be able to be themselves," Zetterberg said. "It's unbelievable that it can be this way in this time, especially in a big country like Russia."

Fellow Swedish player Victor Hedman, who plays for the Tampa Bay Lightning, also had strong things to say about the law: "That's completely wrong, we're all humans. No one should have a say in what way you're sexually oriented."

Nice to see more and more people step up in support of this issue.

Why you should not limit yourself to news sources to your liking.

Found this on FOXNEWS .com. Somewhat pleasantly surprised.

Really? Scanning FOX neus for good info is like examining all of the dog turds in your yard for that nickel your dog swallowed.

BTW, pandering to the Christian Right is NOT positive,

The some what pleasantly surprised is that maybe those on the far right will take notice and stop and think about what they are doing. One can only hope.

The only good thing about Fox News is that their key demographic will, luck willing, die before I do.

Beau Biden is hospitalized in Huston for evaluation. Seems he drove to Indiana last week and when he arrived he felt weak and disorientated. He went to Huston with his father for further testing.
