That's a fair point, but a majority of Germans were swept up in Nazi fascism, and it's absolutely proper to ask how that could happen in a modern industrial nation.

That's all I was asking. How it occured is pretty complicated and tragic.

WOW.......3 women that went missing years ago in Cleveland have been found alive. They had been held captive in Cleveland all these years.

http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/news/loc...us-found-alive

From CNN:

Quote:
"I am thankful that Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michele Knight have been found alive," Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson said. "We have many unanswered questions regarding this case and the investigation will be ongoing. Again, I am thankful that these three young ladies are found and alive."

Angie Garcia, whose aunt lives across the street from where the women were found, said Berry ran over to the house Monday and begged to use the phone. Berry, who was wearing a wig, told the aunt who she was and then asked to use the phone to call 911.

The women and two young children came out of the house across the street, Garcia said.

"We never saw the girls there and we were always outside," she said. "We only saw the guy."

Berry and DeJesus were in their teens when they disappeared in 2003 and 2004, CNN affliate WEWS reported. Knight went missing in 2002, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer

Real sickos out there.

So rare that they were still alive. What a story.

Incredible. Can't imagine what they had to go through.

Check out the neighbor's interview at the bottom of the link. It was kind of awesome in an otherwise disastrous story.

Did you get a chance to listen to the 911 calls?

I've heard bits and pieces. With some of the stories coming out now of missed opportunities, if true mind you, this feels like Jaycee Dugard all over again times 3.

Did not. Not sure if I want to, really (although, I probably will).

I believe it - and it's probably more uplifting than anything. But my overactive imagination begs to differ. I can handle news about bombings. I can handle gruesome injuries and blood. But keeping someone captive for 10 years of their short lives for sex and control? Nope. As great as Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was, I stopped after that book and learned a lot about myself: too much anger. Prison or death isn't bad enough for what these creeps did.
