Default AHL Playoffs

Syracuse clinched the East Division title with their shootout win over Worcester tonight.

Looks like Syracuse gets the Portland Pirates in the first round. At the risk of jinxing it, they're the team I preferred to play. They have some really good defensemen (Rundblad and Gormley) but not much scoring depth and their goaltending doesn't scare me. On paper, Syracuse should move on.

Syracuse has to submit their playoff roster to the AHL by 3 pm. So, the interesting thing will be to see how the Lightning/Crunch handle having several AHL eligible players on the NHL roster they can shift down for the playoffs. You figure Gudas and maybe even Aulie could go down on D, and then Killorn, Panik, Tyrell, and Labrie at forward.

Can players on said submitted list play in the Lightning season finale on Saturday?

Yeah. I would presume so.

It would be really, really nice, though, if Syracuse could at least get 1-2 more guys back for Game One.

Sounds like Desjardins is stinky stinky doo doo tonight. 3 goals on 12 shots. Plus the Crunch can't seem to stay out of the box.

Angelidis and Palat score to tie it after going down 3-1! About minute left in regulation.

Palat wins it with 16 secs left in the first overtime!! Crunch sweep the Pirates!!

So cold. So cruel. So lethal. Sorry Portland.
