Well, subjectively, sure. But objectively, taste doesn't really evolve and grow with age. Odds are, what you listened to as a late-teen/young adult are what you still listen to now, with some slight genre branching thrown in; it's all stuff you related to when it was made because it was written for you (meaning, that particular generation).

I can't relate to any popular music on the radio these days (Gangnam Style aside, haha), so I hardly even bother trying because it just isn't written with me in mind. Doesn't make it bad music, though.

Now, you can argue popular music is less diverse and objectively louder than it used to be, that's true. But we all know money is the reason why.

Please don't misunderstand what I'm saying, though, I'm not saying you're wrong because it's obviously your opinion (and one I don't necessarily disagree with, Beyonce is about as vapid as it gets). Just trying to make a general point.
