The Toledo Walleye had a player die over the weekend in Switzerland. Guess he was backpacking, and somehow got electrecuted. Sad, I remember watching this guy the past few seasons. Good, hard working player, that added a lot to the team. He will be missed around here.

Sounds like he was sitting on a bench at the train station with an electric bilboard behind it? That is really weird, and I now know I will never sit on one of those benches. Wonder if there was a crack in it or something.

This sounded so horrible that I googled his name & found this:
http://www.mlive.com/griffins/index....yran_rufe.html which suggests he was standing on top of a stationary train car & touched a power line. Either way, poor kid. I feel for his family |

Glad I checked this thread, I had never heard anything beyond the initial reports. Rufenach was a solid guy no matter where he played - doubt he'd have ever made the Wings, but a good guy to have in the organization. Gotta wonder why he was on top of the train car in the first place.
From what I remember having ridden a train in Europe, a lot of them are connected to overhead wires. Perhaps he was climbing on top for a picture or a view and accidentally grabbed it? I'm not trying to speculate but otherwise this seems so out of place. |

Ugh, a tragedy. Thoughts go out to his family.
