If Grigorenko's there, I think you really have to think 2-3-4 times before passing on him at 10. That would be a shocker to me. I also think it'd be a shocker if Dumba fell to 10.
I do think they go dman, though... obviously for organizational (not NHL, though coincidentally it matches) need, and because Murray said again that dmen are so hard to find and they're lucky because this draft is full of them. So what kind? A year ago, I think they wanted fast, skilled dmen that could retrieve the puck quickly. Boucher pointed out that if you could find one with size (like Hedman), it was a big bonus. But... I think the selections of Lee and Aulie pointed to a switch in philosophy that defensive awareness and size were more important. I think we need both an offensive weapon and a strong stay-at-homer that is capable of 2-way play. In that sense, if Reilly and Reinhart are the top two there for TB, which one do they take? I would pick Reilly because you can find big stay-at-homers later, but I think they may choose Reinhart instead because of his size. His lack of physical play I don't believe is a big concern to this regime. I'd rather they just take Trouba and be done with it. From what I've seen of Ceci, if he could develop his defensive game, he'd be a home run. |
