This is true, it was reported in the local media here. He also does a lot off community service and said he would continue to do so.

And for the record he would had been eligible for a diversion program anyway. In the program you write a letter, just like he did, and you may be given 50 hours of community service to do. Once that happens and you complete your tasks the case is removed from the docket and you have no record of a conviction. However if you mess up again within one year the charges can be placed back on the docket.
