Well, ol' Langster's made himself a healthy fortune in the NHL (over thirty million smackers) so he can turn up his nose and sneeze at a million or two more. Good for him, I guess. Can you even imagine? Of course we have no way to know how much of that he has left, or if he's grown it or lost it in the Wall Street casino, or what...

Don't really like his atitude as far as the money goes. Your not going to get a hefty contract when your 40 years old, and had 9 goals last season and only played 62 games... I can understand the whole family situation but I don't think he really has any right to be complaining about cash...

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that... all I'm saying is thaat a 40 year old, who has been fairly unproductive and injury prone over the past little while can not be expecting a huge contract coming his way... I have total respect for the fact he put family first, and used that as a basis for his decision, but I just dont think he can really make comments like "They all expect you'll play for free"... There's a reason for that.

Its his choice, he can do what he wants. But forgive me if I can't connect with his choice of words to explain his reasoning. He doesn't have to buy a home.

Just kidding. I'm sure he didn't mean to come off that badly. I really think his family is reason enough not to go chasing another year of hockey as a lower liner.
